Scientific Background: SCYL1 is a protein-serine/threonine kinase of the Other group and SCY1 family. It is apparently devoid of any measurable phosphotransferase activity in vitro, but its isoform (6) can bind 3 GC-rich sequences (box -A, -B, or -C) in the beta-polymerase promoter region.
