Peptide Name: WASP (288-294) pY291
Product Use: Services as a blocking peptide for use with the WASP-pY291 rabbit polyclonal antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PN545) that is also available from Kinexus. This phosphopeptide may also be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located in the PBD domain. Phosphorylation induces activation of WASP to regulate cell cytoskeleton and cell motility.
Peptide Production Method: Solid-phase peptide synthesis
Peptide Origin: Homo sapiens
Peptide Sequence: KLI-pY-DFI
Peptide Modifications N Terminus: Free amino
Peptide Modifications C Terminus: βAla-Cys
Scientific Background: WASP is a member of the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) family of proteins. It is a cytoplasmic protein expressed exclusively in hematopoietic cells. WASP transduces signals from surface receptors to the actin cytoskeleton. It associates with the small GTPase, Cdc42, to regulate formation of actin filaments, and the cytoskeletal organizing complex, Arp2/3. It is mutated in Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, which is a rare, inherited, X-linked, recessive disease characterized by immune dysregulation and microthrombocytopenia.
