Peptide Name: PGK1 (193-199) pY196
Product Use: Services as a blocking peptide for use with the PGK1-pY196 rabbit polyclonal antibody (Cat. No.: AB-PN525) that is also available from Kinexus. This phosphopeptide may also be useful as a substrate for screening the phosphatase activity of protein phosphatases. The peptide sequence is located in the middle of the PGK domain. This is the major in vivo phosphorylation site in PGK1. The effect of its phosphorylation is unclear.
Peptide Production Method: Solid-phase peptide synthesis
Peptide Origin: Homo sapiens
Peptide Sequence: ELN-pY-FAK
Peptide Modifications N Terminus: Free amino
Peptide Modifications C Terminus: βAla-Cys
Scientific Background: PGK1 is the second glycolytic enzyme in the pathway to produce pyruvate from glucose, and also acts as a polymerase alpha cofactor protein (primer recognition protein). It has also been implicated to play a role in sperm motility. It catalyzes the reaction: ATP + 3-phospho-D-glycerate = ADP + 3-phospho-D-glyceroyl phosphate.
