Antibody Positive Control: 1 µg/ml of SMC-465 was sufficient for detection of JIP2/IB2 in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Antibody Cross Reactivity: Does not cross-react with JIP-1/IB-1.
Scientific Background: The JNK-interacting protein (JIP) group of scaffold proteins selectively mediates JNK signaling by aggregating specific components of the MAPK cascade to form a functional JNK signaling module. JIP2 inhibits IL1 beta-induced apoptosis in insulin-secreting cells. May function as a regulator of vesicle transport, through interactions with the JNK-signaling components and motor proteins. It is expressed mainly in the cerebellum, pituitary gland, occipital lobe, and the amygdala of the brain, but also in the pancreas, including insulin-secreting cells.
